Hello my name is Harshil and its time to change rear tyre of my himalyan which will be 80% on road and 20% offroad. I might go for Ralco 120/80 r 17
Q1. Is this tyre good for my requirement ? Or do I have to look for other options [ plz suggest ]
Q2. What changes will I encounter if put a 120/80 ?
Hi Sam,
What's your take on maxxis maxxplore ?
Bro just today I got myself Reise TourR tyres for my Himalayan (front and rear). My requirements are similar to yours and previously I was using MRF meteor mogrip as Sam suggested, it's a pretty damn good tyre and if you don't want to take any chances you could definitely go for that one.
I'm using the same dimensions 120/80-17 as you mentioned and it's pretty good if you're =< 6 feet. Let me know if I can be of any help. Thanks!
Hi Harshil,
I think you should definitely try exploring the MRF Mogrip it’s really a good one and plenty of people in my network have been using it. Its has really proven its worth when it comes to highway riding and it’s suitable for all season riding and you can do quite bit of offroad too!!!
People who reported good feedback had clocked near about 20,000kms and did mostly long tours and slight off-roading, and the tyre still had life to go more.
The tyre is available in the stock Himalayan size
Moreover, the size 120/80 - 17, to simplify :
120 - Width
80 - height
17 - rim size
So naturally if you move to 120/90 - 17 to 120/80 - 17 you’d notice a slight decrease in the bikes height.
I hope that clears the air!
Regards
Sam
