Reise TrailR Review

Reise has been talked about quite a lot in the market recently and majority of the influencer have been promoting the brand too. But is it worth the hype?

Here, I am not going to discuss the technical specifications of the tyre instead I am only going to share my experience with Reise compared to experiences with other tyres.

Please note that, I have always used premium tyres from the beginning, thus the benchmark has been set really high.

Below is a list of tyres that I have used in the past (in order) which has set a baseline for Reise to be compared with :

  1. Ceat Gripp XL

  2. Continental Twinduros TKC80 (best in my opinion)

  3. Mitas E-09 (second best)

  4. Michelin Anakee Wild

  5. Reise TrailR (present)

To begin with Reise had set really high expectation as it was amplified (or at least I perceived it) to be a part of Mitas Tyres. But Reise only partnered with Mitas to manufacture tyres in India (source : Autocar India). Hence, the technology and feel is nowhere related to Mitas. I was disappointed at first knowing this, as I was expecting similar experience from Reise as from Mitas.

Reise if viewed as an independent company, has done quite well in-fact commendable as an Indian manufacturer. And I am really impressed by their qualitative offerings. TrailR and TourR being the most desirable of out the lot.

Who is it for? The TrailR

TrailR is a perfect 60/40 tyre, 60% on-road and 40% off-road, it is very grippy. It is suitable for someone who does regular off-roads, trail ridings along with highway runs and daily commuting. An all in one package.

Pricing?

TrailR has been priced strategically from 6,700INR to 8,000INR varying from locations, shipping charges and fitting charges. I bought my pair from a distributor in Banglore who then shipped them to Gurugram, the door step delivery costed 8,000INR + 200INR fitting.

Tyre Life?

I have clocked about 6000kms on Reise, majorly including highways, daily commute, wet tarmac and occasional off-roading. And so far half of the tyre thread is gone. So I am guessing it should last 10,000kms effortlessly and 12,000kms at best.

Drawbacks?

Occasionally feels unstable on wet tarmac with a pillion. The load put on was 82kg (rider) and 85kg (pillion).

Mango Rating for Reise TrailR :

Price : 6.5/10

Durability : 7/10

Looks/Appeal : 6/10

Availability : 4/10

Overall : 6/10
